If you were wondering what flash to use on camera for the GFX100RF, Godox just announced the winner. For those who haven’t got one yet, the GFX100RF doesn’t have an internal flash and with an f/4 aperture, you’re not shooting in low light without a little help.
I tried using the Godox Lux senior for my daughter’s birthday party, and while the results were good, the flash wasn’t. Manual flash can be a little challenging when the lights aren’t constant. We were at a 10 pin bowling arena and the lighting was changing depending on where you were.
The Lux senior is a nice concept, the retro looks do a good job, but it’s cumbersome to put on and take off if you’re having to do it on a regular basis during the night, and you can’t store the camera with the speed light on without a big bag, which kind of defeats the purpose of having something like the GFX.
There are a couple of things with this flash that make it a really nice option:
- TTL for Fujifilm
- Compact size
- Decent power – this has more power than the TT350 which is helpful with the f/4 aperture
- Can be used as a trigger or triggered with the X3 so it becomes a handy fill flash combined with the AD100Pro
- Both black and silver options for GFX100RF silver and black users – It’s almost like they designed it for Fujifilm
I do feel a little sorry for the Ricoh GR users who are still waiting for a TTL flash.
Here are the specs for those who are interested. All images were from the Godox website. I have one on preorder so will update with a review when it arrives.
